Terms of service

Last updated 16 Oct 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Context Locker for using the service at context.locker. Please read them with our Privacy policy.

The short version

  • Your playbook is yours. We use it only to run Context Locker for you.
  • Don't store secrets, and don't use Context Locker to break the law or harm others.
  • You're responsible for the AI apps you connect and the changes you approve.
  • You can cancel, export everything and leave whenever you like.
  • The service is provided as it is, and our liability is limited.

1.Agreement

By creating an account or using Context Locker, you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm you're allowed to agree to them for that organisation.

2.The service

Context Locker is a hosted home for your playbook: your preferences, skills, project context and notes. It keeps every version, gives your playbook to the AI apps you connect and lets them suggest updates for you to approve.

We may change, pause or stop parts of the service, and we can't promise that every feature will stay available.

3.Your account

  • Give accurate account details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your account, devices and AI app connections secure.
  • Only let people you trust manage your account, AI apps, billing and security settings.
  • Tell us straight away if you think your account or an AI app connection has been compromised.

4.Your content

You own your playbook, notes, skills and everything else you put in Context Locker. You give us permission to host, store, copy, process, send and display it only as needed to run and secure the service for you, including giving it to the AI apps you connect.

You must have the right to store what you put in Context Locker. Don't store passwords, API keys or other secrets. We may reject anything that looks like one.

We never use your content to train AI models.

5.AI apps you connect

AI apps are made by other companies and are covered by their own terms. When you connect one, it can read your playbook and suggest changes.

AI apps make mistakes, so review what you approve. If you let a trusted AI app make small updates on its own, which Pro allows, you're responsible for those updates too. You can undo any change from your history.

Our setup skill and sync script are open source under the MIT licence, and that licence covers your use of them.

6.Acceptable use

Don't use Context Locker to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights
  • attack, probe or get around our security
  • share access to your account or AI app connections beyond what they're meant for
  • upload malware, or skills and notes written to make AI apps cause harm
  • reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows it
  • send spam, abuse the service or put an unreasonable load on it

7.Plans and billing

  • Each plan has limits, shown on our pricing page and in the app.
  • Pro is billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, at the price shown when you upgrade. It starts as soon as you upgrade, unless checkout says otherwise.
  • You can cancel Pro at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • If you move to a smaller plan, we don't delete your data, but AI apps over its limit stop syncing and you choose which ones stay active.
  • You're responsible for taxes and fees, and for keeping your payment details up to date.
  • We may change prices and plan limits. Where the law requires it, we'll give you reasonable notice first.

8.Other services

Context Locker relies on other providers for hosting, sign-in, email, payments and security. If you use an integration, such as the optional GitHub mirror, that provider's own terms may also apply.

9.Security

We use reasonable safeguards, described in our Privacy policy. You're responsible for setting up your account sensibly, choosing which AI apps to connect, limiting what they can do and checking your history.

We can't guarantee security where accounts, devices or connections are set up wrongly, given too much access, compromised or used outside the service.

10.Our property

We and our licensors own Context Locker itself: the software, design, brand and documentation. These terms don't give you ownership of any of it. The parts we publish as open source are covered by their own licence.

If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.

11.Privacy

Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

12.Suspension and termination

You can stop using Context Locker at any time, and export your content first if you'd like to keep it.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your use creates a security or legal risk, if you don't pay, or if you use the service to cause harm. When your account ends, we keep or delete data as our Privacy policy describes.

13.Warranties and disclaimers

Context Locker is provided “as is” and “as available”, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

If you use Context Locker for business, consumer guarantees apply only where the law says they can't be excluded.

14.Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, data or goodwill.

Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of NZD 100 or the fees you paid us in the three months before the event that led to the claim.

15.Indemnity

You agree to cover our losses and costs from any claim that arises from your content, your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your breaking the law or someone else's rights.

16.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll take reasonable steps to tell you. If you keep using Context Locker after the new terms take effect, you accept them.

17.Governing law

New Zealand law governs these terms, and New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
